Our debate

In Pierre-Guéguin, there are lessons from 8. to 18.
The students wake up from 6. to 7.30. (some of them sleep at school and wake up betwen 7. and 7.30 . They have breakfast from 7. to 8.)
Most of the students  (and of the teachers) have lunch at the school restaurant between 12 and 13.30 .

So the breakfast is very important for a long working day at school, almost if there are sport activities in the morning.

The 1ère STG classe had a debate about the ideal breakfast before a school day.
Findings
- many students have breakfast ( bread , milk , butter , fruit , orange juce ... ) ; but they are hungry at 10.
- some of them don't  ( because they wake up too late ; or because they can't eat  early in the  morning ; or because there is nothing very good to eat! Or they are alone ... or nobody prepares...) They are hungry at 8. !

The classe thought of what to do in these cases :
- prepare the evening before
- prepare what they would like to eat .
- wake up some minutes earlier ...

The 1STG also had a debate about a collation  (bread and chocolate)  that was given at 10. every day to the  students in our school till last year. Many students took bread and threw it , anywhere ... Problems: more work to clean the school and  wasted food.  So, this year, no more collation ...
The classe is thinking of a new organisation to get it back.  It will be the first activity. Then they 'll think of the best breakfast menu ; and they 'll organise a breakfast at the school restaurant to have with the comenius partners when they 'll come to Concarneau.

class 11b Julius-Wegeler-School

Hi! We are class 11b and we want to present you our ideas for our activity ptoject.
We would like to rent gymnastic balls and have a room where sports facilities (e.g punching bag, stepper) are for students who don't have lessons. In addition we want to give out step counters to make people walk more. Another idea is to install a climbing wall or a trampoline.

What do you think about our ideas? We can't waiot to see your answers.

class 11a Julius-Wegeler-School

Hi! We are class 11a of the Julius-Wegeler-School. Here is an outline of our project to improve the opportunities of activity at our school:
We want to cooperate with with local fitness centres. Every three months they should give in our gym some training sessions where everyone could take part to become interested. Based on this we want to start a programme where pupils and students of our local university supervise easy courses which could even be done in the classroom.
In addition there should be a programme where you could "credits" for special achievements or a "healthy" behaviour. The credits could be used for training sessions at the cooperating fitness centres.
We hope you like our idea and wait for YOUR comments. Thanks.

class 11c Julius-Wegeler-School

Hi! We are class 11c of the Julius-Wegeler-School. Our aim is to integrate sports and activity in our daily life at school.
So far we have the following ideas:
  1. Installation of an outdoors multi-functional court (for volleyball, basketball etc.) Problems: costs, space
  2. A hire system for balls (e.g. juggling balls, softballs for football, volleyball)
  3. Indoors billiard table or air hockey.
  4. A special fundraising day with a sponsored run

We are still looking for outdoors activities which don't take a lot of space (our schoolyard is very small and open to the public. We are looking forward to YOUR ideas. Thank you!

Soukroma stredni odborna skola Hranice

Dear Friends,
we are a group of Czech students chosen from various classes. We want to work on four topics which can help to improve our time spent at school.
The topics we want to focus on are:
1. Organizing Healthy Day at school – we plan to organize a day full of sports and healthy food before Christmas.
2. Lecture on drug abuse will be given by a professional. The drug abuse has become an issue recently in our country so we feel it is necessary to inform our schoolmates about danger of drug addiction
3. Sport activities which are a part of our school curriculum. We want to map the situation and make a presentation of number of sport activities our school prepares for the students.
4. Healthy diet of our students – we plan to sell fresh smoothies (drinks made of fresh fruit) to students regularly. The drinks will be prepared by our students (each class will take turns) and there may be a competition too!

Lombardo Radice - Project ideas.

We have 5 classes working on the project and so we have chosen 5 different aspects of health which we intend to study and then present to the school for the Health Day in February.
The 5 aspects are :-
- Physical activity - the class will look at different aspects of daily activity, some of the most common sports and an activity proposed by the P.E. teacher on posture and visual capacities with proposals on how to make the most of physical activity.
- Creation of a better environment at school and how to make students feel better at school - from research to practical application (we hope)
- Good and bad drinks - including the problems of alcohol . How to encourage students to drink more healthily - the nutritional properties of these drinks - leading to suggestions for the school bar.
- Food and nutrition - from good and bad foods to problem areas of anorexia, allergies and diabetes - suggestions of how to eat better at school with hopefully some changes.
- Problems of drink and drugs.
All of these areas will be investigated more thoroughly with the science teachers
The students have different ideas about how to present their findings to the rest of the school in a way that has an impact on the others - either by videos, powerpoint presentations, posters , songs, comic strips and short acting performances.

Pierre Gueguin project, France.

From the description/analysis of a school day (with or without sports activities) in the high school Pierre Guéguin and from findings in the 2009/2010 survey about alimentation, we'll organize a debate in the 1ère STG classe about "How last out the day at school in best conditions "
We'll propose an ideal breakfast menu, a best organisation of the 10 AM collation, the best choices in the lunch menus at the school restaurant.

We have started to talk about what aspects of the project we would like to work on. Our class is going to concentrate on the good and bad sides of physical activity. We hope to involve also our physical education teacher. We are going to analyse the different physical activities and decide on how we can improve our movement during the day. We will let you know how we progress. Look forward to your comments.
